La Fabrique de la Cité, Atos, the Science Centre of Singapore and the French Embassy are pleased to invite you at their special workshop:

"Urban mobilities in the digital economy: autonomous vehicles, from promises to reality"

Tuesday November 12th, 2019 - from 6pm to 8pm (doors opening at 5:30pm)

Science Centre of Singapore, 15 Science Centre Road, Singapore 60908

Digital technology has arrived in the city with its share of promises: optimizing the city, making it smarter… In every major function of the city, digital technology has come to play a fundamental role. But what about mobility? While new transportation offers have emerged, such as autonomous vehicles, they have yet to pave the way for the disappearance of cars and congestion in the city. Worse, digital technologies and transportation innovations seem, in some ways, to have contributed to urban congestion.

La Fabrique de la Cité, a French think tank supported by the VINCI group, Atos, the Science Centre of Singapore, and the French Embassy invite participants to question the promises of transportation innovations, especially autonomous vehicles, at the age of the digital economy, in the area of urban mobility in Singapore, France, Europe, and North America.

Key words: Urban mobility, autonomous vehicle, digital economy, innovation, gain, limit, (negative and positive) externalities.

Questioning:

  • How do the newcomers from the digital economy and the sector of autonomous vehicles interact with local governments and public agencies, as well as with traditional stakeholders in the field of urban transportation?

  • How do public stakeholders interact with autonomous vehicles companies in the case of a well-structured transportation policy? And in the case of a deficient transportation policy?

  • How can digital technology and autonomous vehicles fix transportation issues but, doing this, how does it generate also negative ripple effects?

  • Do autonomous vehicles compete public transportation systems?...
